My journey:I grew up knowing that I would, one day, have a career in the medical field. After graduating from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor's degree in biology, however, I (like many others) could not find a job in my career field. Sadly, I let life's distractions pull me away from my dreams of going to medical school and got stuck working in a job that wasn't fulfilling and was just "working to live". It took a life-changing event to happen to wake me up and get me moving to chase my dreams again. Now I am full-throttle and ecstatic about attending UTHSCSA! Nursing has endless opportunities and I am determined to not end my chase with my BSN; I plan on becoming an advance practice nurse.
Involvement: I am a member of HSNA, INSA, NSNA, Juntos Podemos, and am the representative of my accelerated class in the Committee on Undergraduate Studies. I volunteer for Haven for Hope, American Kidney Fund, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and am looking for opportunities with Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.
Career aspirations: My goal is to pursue my Master's immediately either in a CRNA or ACNP program.
What do you like about UTHSCSA? I like our campus and find our faculty and staff to be very caring and see that they have our best interests at heart because they all want us to succeed not only in the program, but in our careers.
